Château de Chimay is a castle located in the town of Chimay, in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. The castle was built in the 9th century by the lords of Chimay, and it was later expanded and renovated in the 16th and 19th centuries. It features a mix of architectural styles, including Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque.
The castle has been the residence of the Princes of Chimay since the 15th century and it is still privately owned by the noble family. It is not open to the public for tours, but visitors can explore the surrounding gardens and parklands.
Château de Chimay is also famous for being the birthplace of the Trappist beer, brewed by the monks of the Abbey of Scourmont, which is located nearby. The castle hosts an annual beer festival in July, where visitors can sample the beer and learn about its history and production.
